You're NOT on Pinterest?? What's wrong with you???

FINALLY! I'm a crazy, insane, addicted to photos of ANYTHING and will "pin" them on one of my numerous boards, member of Pinterest.

After waiting two weeks to be "invited," to thus find out that all I needed was to have someone who was already on it to link me... Two weeks could have been two hours... Goddammit.
Anyways, this website is so much fun; it's insanely addicting, full of recipes and DIY ideas for weddings, home, and kids. I literally sit at work and browse Pinterest the whole time. I have 21 boards and 139 pins... which I think is a lot for being on it for a week. Have you ever been so overwhelmed by photos and ideas that you see one thing and think of all the opportunities for that thing, then suddenly you look to your right and see something else and totally forget to finish thinking about the other thing? Well, this is Pinterest. Welcome to a pictured world of insanity, others useless opinions, and yet another reason to follow your friends.

Here's a sample of what you have in store once you are lucky enough to be part of the cool crowd and be invited...

Avocado Grilled Cheese

His & Her fingerprints for bedroom or even a Save the Date

Great DIY lightbulb reception idea

Winter Wedding anyone?

Love these funny little quotes/sayings

Give Thanks, My Peeps

As we all know, Thanksgiving is on Thursday.... So, since I am now addicted to Pinterest (and am still waiting on my invite to join - bastards, hurry up!), I thought I will finally add some photos to my blog. Here are some decorating ideas that I loved, and would definitely use if I had a table to decorate:

I added this because it made me think of my mom - she would totally love this!

Happy Thanksgiving, ya'll! Enjoy the time with friends and family, and stuffing your face! Remember to give thanks for every lovely thing in your life! As for me, I am truly thankful for my family, my friends, my amazing boyfriend and our fantastic life that we are able to live and experience together.

Life Just Popped My Cherry

What a week, ya'll!
Tuesday started out so promising! I was so excited when I got home from the "How to be a Wedding Planner"  class and couldn't sleep. Ideas about what to do next, who I can help plan their wedding, and who to contact to get into the "biz" just floated around my head. A las! Life throws a curve ball - one of my favorite pitches actually... Actually, life threw me a deer. Literally. A deer walked right in front of me on my way to work on Tuesday morning. Life popped TWO of my cherries at one time: getting in an accident and killing an animal. Luckily, my car only has cosmetic damage, which my insurance will pay for and I am fine.

After this week of car troubles, I am finally in a rental (Ford Focus = gross) and can start thinking about the wedding industry again. I contacted Lori at Statice Floral, and will be meeting with her later this month. I am SO excited! I absolutly adore flowers and would love to learn more about arranging them for events and weddings. I worked at a floral shop in college, and it was the best job! Even though I delivered and cleaned most of the time, I was able to learn the basics of floral design and learned the names of tons of flowers.

Next blog - Thanksgiving. Duh.

Let's get this thang started....

Dear Diary..... No...
Day One..... That's not right either...

Ahem. To those who are reading this, maybe I should come up with some disclaimer; this is my first blog. Can you tell? To be honest, as a little girl I didn't even write much in a diary. Is that weird? Anyways, the idea to start a blog of my own, wasn't mine. I can thank Debbie at Save the Date Events suggested to start one whilst at a "How to Become an Event Planner" class she taught.

I agree with this suggestion, even though I am not the most fond of the things considered to be "social media." Great for marketing, but really just kind of annoying. Alas, I find myself having to deal with the FaceBook-ing, (I can now stalk any and all of my friends and it's OKAY), Tweeting, (a little birdie informed me about what you ate for lunch, how you felt in traffic, and what Justin Timberlake was doing at 11:47pm last night), Blogging, (are you really that interested in what I have to say?)... OMG I think the lists goes on and on.

So, here I am beginning a new chapter in my life - cliche? It is true, I'm trying to put myself out there and let the world know what I want, because I hope by doing so it actually comes true. I, Mandy Mader, wants to have a career in events - wedding, nonprofit, meetings, conferences.... whatever may come my way. Let me, help you to make your day wonda-val!

I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of this blog, and actually how long I stick to this! I'm thinking this will be a blog of my life trying to get to where I want to be in the event world, and possibly a little about weddings/events - what I like, what I don't, and everywhere in between.

Stay tuned ya'll!
