Let's be Thankful

Since Thanksgiving is a week away, and I think everyone needs a reminder to give thanks for what they have, what they have made it through, and who they have around them. I know I surely need the reminder, especially as of late!

Here are some Pinterest quotes about being thankful.

Soon we will step right into Christmas!

Zombies Eat Brains... Shows Skull

Anyone that knows me, knows how much I love skulls. I even have one tattooed on my side! Also, Matt and I are obsessed with zombies, more so now because of The Walking Dead. Maybe that will be our matching tattoo... a zombie!

I saw this on a tshirt at Target!

Love it!

Looks like Dega to me

Halloween is Coming! Halloween is Coming!

I love Halloween. Or, actually I love skeletons and skulls. I have a couple that I keep out all year round, but ALL of my skulls get to make an appearance in October!

One day, I will have a Halloween party. Until I do I will stare at these pictures:

This is my favorite! Who says your decor has to be orange and black? Pish-posh!

Next post... How about ZOMBIES?!

Doubt vs. Patience

I'd say at least 99.9% of people have the ultimate goal to "just be happy." Of course, every one's definition of happiness is different. Mine is to have a career in my passion - the thing that makes me the most happy. To accomplish this requires sacrifice as well, (as I am learning.)

After quitting a job that was making me into a person I did not want to be; unhappy, mean, unsatisfied, angry... I made a decision to pursue my dreams. I wanted to be in the event world, specifically creating art with flowers. Floral design is where I want to be. It calms me, it doesn't feel like work, and the day flies by when I can use the left side of my brain. Being creative is my zen.

Now, because I chose this route, I have been having a hard time adjusting to the sacrifices: of being paid less than I was making just a month ago; of having to "pay my dues" by starting on the bottom of the totem pole; of stability, full time hours, and benefits. All these things are making me ask, "Is this happiness? Am I happier now than I was at the vet hospital?" Currently, I am feeling as if I am working extremely hard without reward. I am doubting my choices.

OR, am I not being patient? Time after time, Matt has to explain to me that I am starting fresh and cant have things handed to me. That I have to be patient, let people see what I can do, and give my all so I can receive that reward of accomplishment and happiness.

Things are going to be hard for a little, and I know that I will persevere and be where I want to be. Maybe not now, maybe not next month... but soon.

I am hopelessly hopeful.

Alice In Wonderland

With the help of Angel Wolf, I decided to create a tablescape based on Alice in Wonderland. Can you find all our subtle hints to the story/movie? Take a look!

We also decided to utilize another table as well....

Ah... To Live & Learn

This past week was a learning experience for me. I was able to do some contract work with a florist, thanks to my fellow florist friend. I was taken aback at how different every place works. From processing their flowers, to organization, and micro-managing. I was able to learn some different things, especially with tropicals; but, I was offended by the way this shop treated "outsiders," and left feeling worthless. I do not want to get into details, so all I can say is that I will not work there again.

Live and learn!

Welcome to Fall!

Back to flowers! I recently just quit my "day job" at the animal hospital. I felt the need to take a risk and just dive into my dream.

I worked this week at Brilliant Blooms on two fall-ish weddings.

Brides Bouquet; mango calla lilies, orange roses, Bells of Ireland, mums, safari sunset, hypericum berries and protea. The bride asked us to attach some pictures of her father that had passes away 2 years ago, so sweet and touching.

"Mushroom Cloud," (see next picture for explanation); orange roses, Bells of Ireland, mums, safari sunset, and hypericum berries.

High arrangement of flowers on top of a table, 360 degrees around

Bridesmaid Bouquet; orange roses, orange spray roses, white roses, dark purple stock, and bupleurum.

View of the inside of the delivery van on our way to Ceilo at Castle Pines. We had to build 12 mushroom cloud arrangements on-site, (see below.)

Bells of Ireland, dark purple stock, pink stock, orange roses, dark purple hydrangea, and pink dianthus. Missing: orange lilies.

Centerpiece #2

Cocktail Table

They used the short table centerpieces for the aisle decor. Very cute!

Hasa Diga Eebowai

My boss at Brilliant Blooms, Allison, got us the hook-up, yo! We had the amazing pleasure to do the flower decor for The Book of Mormon VIP After Party, thus landing tickets to the show as well as entry into the After Party. The show was hilarious, my favorite part being the Spooky Mormon Hell Dream. Afterwards, at the After Party, we met the creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Needless to say my boyfriend said it was the "best night of his life."

Here are some pretty crappy pictures from the event. The light was orange, that's my excuse!

Succulent and rock wall

Behind the bar, including antlers

Bar decor; sticks, gold antlers, orange orchids, and red protea

VIP Reserved Lounge; succulents, red protea

Food Table; sticks, orange orchids, and red protea

Ding-dong! Hello!

Our departing gift, a frog.

And we also did a wedding... :D
Bride's Bouquet: Purple orchids, white orchids, dark purple hydrangea, purple calla lilies, sword fern, variegated pit

Guestbook Table: Dark purple and white hydrangea, variegated pit

Alter pieces; dark purple and white hydrangea

For an Indian Wedding, elephant made out of mums and carnations (awesome!)

And this ends my internship with Brilliant Blooms and beginning of my employment with them!
Yea!
