Reflections of Turning 29
My birthday was this past Friday (19th) and I turned 29. One more year in my twenties.... Am I freaking out? Am I worried? Am I dreading it? No. I love birthdays! (Especially mine!) I am looking forward to celebrating my big 3-0 with my friends and family.
After this past weekend of celebrations, I realized how happy I am. I have a wonderful, loving, caring, supportive husband. We have so much fun together and he makes me laugh all the time. While being by his side as he tackles getting into the CU Boulder Engineering program and working full time, we have had very little time to enjoy each other and enjoy being newlyweds. Seeing his grades be posted and being so proud of him, we both know we are sacrificing now to build a better future and it will all work out and be worthwhile.
I have wonderful friends, who even though we don't talk a ton or see each other as often as we would like, we are there for each other and have a blast connecting when we do get to spend time together. I appreciate every single one of them and am so happy that I have each one in my life. Some of my friends are also my co-workers. I work with fan-tas-tic people. No lie. It is such a joy to enjoy everyone you work with. Building friendships outside of work has been my key to keeping great, long lasting relationships. Some of my bestest of best friends are people I have met at work.
Now on to my family. Sometimes there are not enough words to express my gratitude, love, and appreciation for my family. My parents are the greatest. They are the ultimate support I can ask for. They have helped mold me into who I am today and have pushed me to grow and express myself in the ways I want to. From "allowing" me to get my first tattoo on my 18th birthday; to helping me after college when I couldn't find a non-retail job; to supporting me in my work adventures to finally lead me to pursuing owning my own flower design business - they have always been a sounding board, a shoulder, and given me assurance among so may other things. My siblings are amazing. This includes my sister-in-law who I have grown very close to and am SO happy to call her my sister. My siblings are so very understanding and have never been judgmental. They always want what is best for me and push me towards my goals and dreams. As we are now starting our own families, I believe we are maturing as siblings and enjoy our time together so much more. Our time together is always loud, laughter-filled, and a complete joy. With now having a nephew, I am reveling in this new kind of love. I am learning as I go and am grateful for my brother and sister-in-law being patient and trusting me with their little bundle. I cannot wait to feel another type of love when I have my own child.... down the road.
Always keep in mind that relationships are what keep life moving and happiness around.
So, bring on 29! 30 doesn't scare me, not with the people I have surrounding me! I look forward to what this next year will bring and can't wait to continue pursing my dreams.
Merry Christmas!
