I Make Things Look Purtty

I was able to take an introduction to floral design for wedding planners this past Wednesday; held by Alicia Schwede from Belle Fiori and Chuck from The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa. I had a great time, even though I pretty much knew what I was doing the whole time. LOL That's what happens when one works at a floral shop for three years! I really missed being around flowers and using the creativity that I have through the flower designs. (Plus, it smelled amazing!)

Here are my designs:

Just a calla lilly... it was a boutonniere, but I took it apart... lol

Calling All Passions!

I think the way you can tell you love and are passionate about something, (or someone for that matter!), is when  you can feel your heart get excited. My heart actually starts to feel bigger and fill with excitement. This happened to me on Saturday when the lovely ladies of Statice Floral allowed me to shadow them to Golden for a winter country wedding. Although it was a long day, with a different type of schedule for a florist, I had a complete blast. I know for a fact, that I am supposed to be in this field. I had so much fun and even though it is a lot of work - physically too! - I am in love.

I had to go to work on Sunday, (to make up for taking Saturday off), and to be honest... I realized I needed to get out. I need to pursue my passion and love of events and weddings. I no longer want to be a receptionist at a vet hospital. I am ready to travel down the path I am meant to walk. I really enjoyed working with animals and getting to see and learn about some really cool, sometimes really gross, things; but as soon as I finally hook a position... paid position.... I am gone.

Can I Start Now, Please?

Now that it is 2012, I've realized I have had a BA for almost 4yrs now and that means I've been looking for a career in that same time. I love what I am doing currently - working at a veterinarian hospital - but I am so past ready to move on and up in my life.

I'm so excited to be helping Statice Floral this weekend at a wedding. I want to be a part of the events world so bad and am trying every way I can to start the process.

I'll let you know how it goes on Saturday!!

Happy New Year Peeps!

I hope everyone had a great holiday season! Mine was pretty darn good... too good on the food-and-not-workout side. :( Time to start the same resolution that everyone in America has this time of year: lose weight. Blah. This time I am going to try Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. I'll let you know how it goes. Matt, (my bf), and I are planning on going to New Orleans in March so that is my goal date.

On another note - I got a Kindle! Woot! I'm excited, minus the fact that I got 4 books for Christmas and I am still working on reading The Help. I wish I had more down time to read. If you have any book recommendations, please throw them my way. So far I have The Hunger Games.

Also, to all those newly engaged... GAG! Haha... just kidding. Kinda. I was just happy to finally get some jewelry from Matt. Only took him 14 months... Do your engagement rings look like any of these?

Disclaimer: If your ring looks like this, please get off my blog and donate to charity.

Cute and tiny. Everyone's style is different.

Trinity - usually meaning "Past, Present & Future"

Black diamond. Again, everyone's preference is different. I've seen other gems/stones, including pearls as the main "rock."

Back to my Events Certification class tomorrow - 2 classes and the test left! Countdown starts? Hellz yes!
