Oh December!

So many emotions are involved with this month; excitement, frustration, surprise, disappointment, and emptiness.... Argh. I always get so bummed out after Christmas flies by. No more holiday music, lights, presents, and excuses to eat whatever I want. The year is over and now it's time to look towards the future, (at least the future of the next year).

Lets reminiscence....

See ya next year!

It's My Birthday.... Tomorrow!

I love birthdays, especially mine! I am not one of those women who groan and cringe when their birthday comes around. Bitch, it's MY day. Damn right, this day is all about me! As one of those sad December birthday people who are succumbed to having to deal with people giving "combo" birthday/christmas gifts and being asked about how horrible it is to have a December birthday because of Christmas - I've decided that actually, as a December birthday girl I get to celebrate all month! Why not - technically everyone is celebrating since Thanksgiving; putting up decorations, buying presents, having family gatherings, and being all merry... Aren't you really celebrating me? (Hey, why not be self centered for a short amount of time, at least in your head and think that everything revolves around you??)

In celebration here are some birthday party ideas that I have either had for my birthday:

Yes, I did have a Spongebob Party - I think I was turning 17... Don't hate.

21st Birthday - weren't Jello shots considered a part of the decor?

Okay, seriously. Let's get grow up (a little); as adults I'm sure themes go out the window for the most part. We might start having get togethers and dinner parties in celebration rather than having a huge bash, unless it's for a momentous occasion. Here are some tablescapes from Sandra Lee that I have particularly liked:

I love monochromatic schemes with a pop.

Cute and simple.

(Not Sandra Lee) If I was into lime green - I would die for this!

Blogs are Hard!

Geez! My last post was Nov 30th? How do people post weekly let alone daily on their blogs?? It takes me at least a week to get an idea and then try to sound witty as I begin to format that idea into words! Thank goodness I understand punctuation and, (somewhat), grammer.

I had the great pleasure of meeting with Lori with Statice Floral in Arvada. She was so wonderful! I was able to persuade her into allowing me to shadow her for a wedding or two that she has coming up in the next few months, just to see what is involved and for me to decide if this is something I would for sure love to do. I am thinking of doing more in the floral/design areas of a wedding rather than the whole coordination of it. We shall see.

So here are some floral examples for a possible winter wedding...

Peonies and Cranberries

Gerber Daisies and Twigs in Log

Hydrangea and Roses with "frosted" twigs
